Future Craft organised a pop up arts wellbeing fair at Z-Arts in hulme for all the local residents. The event included all day art, music and games for adults and kids to improve their mental wellbeing.

Future Craft Arts & Crafts

Future Craft is all about getting people to try out arts activities that develope their mental, physical and spiritual health.

 

This is why we provided a range of activities and arts and crafts materials so people could try out soe of these activities.

 

Activities included story telling dice game, activities cards with a range of art therapy activities for people to do privatly or as a group, origami paper and instruction, a large communal canvas for people to create a shared piece of art, science and history magazines for people to read and lot's of beautiful designs for colouring in.

Manchester Mind kindly provided us with a range of panflets with information and advice on wellbeing, They contain a range of practical advice on maintaining wellbeing; including general practices and a practices specific to depression, anxiety, ADHD and many other mental problems.

Chakra Dance by Emma

Emma got our guests in tune with their bodies with this fun and deeply mindfull form of mental and physical excercies designed to increase circulation of energy around the body, increasing happiness, physical fitness and spiritual awarness.

Zion Wellbeing Centre

Joanne and Dwayne from Zion Centre offered free massage and mental health advice.

 

The Zion Centre has been providing support and resources to the people of Hulme and the surrounding area since 1991. They offer help for anxiety, depression, dyslexia and ADHD. They also offer help for parents, unemployed, asylum seekers looking for housing and many offer things.

 

Services vary so check out there website regularly.

Z-Arts Centre

The fair was held at Z-Arts, a ‘creative space for young people’ with a priority on providing participatory activity.

Creative learning is at the core of everything they do, both inside and outside the building. They work with schools and communities all over Greater Manchester, spanning the whole curriculum. They strive to be forward thinking in all their projects, making them as relevant, accessible, educational and of course, fun as everyone who takes part in them deserves.

Fred Aldous kindly donated a beautiful, selection of quality arts and craft materials such as paints. paint brushes, paper and a range of other materials.

Fred Aldous is located in the Northen Quarter in Manchester city centre.

The Future Craft Wellbeing fair was funded by the O2 Think Big prroject. They aim to provide funding and support for young people trying to make a positive difference in their community.

Skanka Robiks by Shkiesha

Shkiesha delivered a high energy, ravers dance fitness workout, designed for lovers of dub, reggae, dubstep and drum n bass. This unique class is unique class is great for improving coordination, increasing strength and of course, increasing happiness.

Kundelini Yoga by Amma

Amma guided us through the very powerful yoga of the Kundelini. A yoga practice that includes a range of breathing, stretching and other movement, designed to help you improve your energy circulation, increase mindfullness and the euphoric feeling of connecting with the divine.

Music

We had a music Jam lead by Truce plus some chanting and purcussion lead by our friends from the Hare Krisna Centre in Whalley Range. Plus the DJ's got everybody moving on the dance floor...sober. :-)
